In order for your DNA test result to be legally admissible, an unbroken chain of custody must be established. Priority Genetic Testing is partnered with AABB accredited labs that oversee the strict adherence of all legal chain of custody testing we provide to our clients.
Chain of custody is a required part of legal documentation, as it tracks the control and custody of materials such as physical or digital evidence. Chain of custody is important in criminal cases, but it’s also used in civil litigation and to create drug-testing protocols for athletes and to manage supply chains.
The turnaround time to receive test results is between 2 and 5 business days. However, PGT does not guarantee exact time frames.
The legal paternity testing process was designed to utilize test results for legal purposes for situations such as child support, immigration, birth certificate name changes etc. Essentially, your results can be used to help establish paternity.
Yes. Our partner laboratory does not share your information with any third-party companies. Only the participants involved of the DNA test will have access to your results. Results will only be released to a third party by the request of the tested party or by court order from a Judge.
When performing a legal DNA test, you must have an official state-issued identification such as a Driver's License or Passport.
Yes. If the tested parties reside in different states or cities in the same state, PGT can schedule appointments if we have Collectors in our network near your home. However, per NY State regulations, paternity testing necessitates approval from a legal or medical professional, as well as the presence of an impartial witness. This requirement is applicable to both tests that hold legal significance and those that do not. Therefore, PGT can not provide testing services for an individual without written approval from all necessary parties.
The most commonly used method of DNA sample collection is performed by cheek swab. Blood samples are also a viable collection method with same accuracy as cheek swab collections.
